    There are many different kinds of life coaches out there. I can speak to the Life Coach that I am and the framework for my service.
    A Life Coach is someone who can help you transform your life from “Same old, same old,” to something you never thought possible. I work with my clients using the Model that is taught at The Life Coach School by my coach, Brooke Castillo. The Model is a tool that explains why we do the things we do and why our life is what it is. It is like getting the secret to the Universe. Once you have this information, you begin to decide, on purpose, what you want to do and how you choose your life to be. And the sky’s the limit!

    Therapy is conducted by someone with a Master’s degree and who, most often, has fulfilled the requirements for a license through their state. They can assess and diagnose a client. Their clients typically have symptoms to the point that they require a therapist to get them back to their baseline of functioning. Coaches wouldn’t work with a client who is at risk to themselves or others as they are not trained to manage those symptoms. Coaches typically work with clients who are at their baseline of functioning and want to up level their lives or set/reach a new goal.
    Therapists are usually paid through a person’s medical insurance but insurance companies do not pay for coaching. Costs vary and it usually depends on how long a coach has been in practice and the type of service offered. Some coaches offer 1:1 coaching on a weekly or biweekly basis while others may have a group program or monthly membership. There are a lot of different options.
    The coaching I do is considered Causal Coaching (not casual) and I help clients get to the root of their issues and make changes in their mindset. I stay away from telling anyone how to change their behaviors.
    A life coach can help you with just about any change you want to make in your life. Some people will seek out a life coach to help them with a particular problem like work stress, overeating, overdrinking or a particular relationship issue they are having.
    Some people are going through a transition in their life and will use coaching sessions to help them make a decision.
    Others may have goals that they want to accomplish and want the support and 1:1 focus that a life coach can give.
    Sometimes I see clients who have been through therapy and are functioning but what they really want is to thrive! In all instances, the client wants to make a change or improvement of some sort.
    All coaching is conducted over Zoom. You need a computer, phone or tablet to connect to the sessions. 1:1 sessions are typically scheduled at the same time every week with few exceptions.
    Group coaching has a variety of formats. The group coaching that I do involves multiple clients on a Zoom meeting. There is usually a theme for the group and clients take turns raising their hands to be coached.
    Before you raise your hand you need to make sure you are in a quiet environment where you have good audio and video and that you are not multitasking at the market or driving.
    I coach as many people as possible during that time. What’s great about group coaching is that even if you are not the person getting coached, you can benefit from listening to the coaching. Some clients feel they are more receptive to the coaching on the group calls because they see themselves in the other clients. As the client is getting coached on the call, they benefit as well.
